Champions League Final – A Battle to Remember

It’s like a situation of now or never for both the Champions League finalists. Both the finalists have not got the strongest of the opponents to play the Champions League Final. The day has arrived when the two teams, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, are to fight for the biggest title in Europe, for this year at Munich, to become the Champions League winners.

An unexpected run for Chelsea got them through to the finals. Nobody would have expected them to be at this stage when the season finishes. But as it always turns around in football, they have entered the race to win the Champions League for the first time.

It will be a season to remember for Chelsea fans, players and even the managers, whether they win it or not. A young manager named Andre Villas Baos was appointed at the beginning of the season to build a new team. But as always he was unable to keep owner Roman Abrahimovich patient. The continuation of poor form even after January saw him sacked midway through his job.

Then, it was the assistant manager Roberto de Matteo, also called as RDM, who was handled with the job. He turned the team around, winning the FA Cup and taking them to the Champions League final, however, was unable to give them a 4th place finish in the league table, finally finishing sixth.

It is down to him how he handles the pressure and the team with four top players out, including captain John Terry.  But according to him, he has already discovered the secret to defeat Bayern. Let’s see how his secret works, or whether it really works!

On the other side, calm and confident Bayern would try to take the control of the game at their home. Bayern will fight for a fifth Champions League title while Chelsea will be eyeing their first. Bayern would want to take as much profit from their supporters at Munich as they will also miss out on four of their top players due to ban.

Bayern recently faced cup defeat to Borussia Dortmund along with the league title. They would want to overcome those with Champions League title.

While Chelsea has come all the way beating the likes of Napoli, Benfica and Barcelona, Bayern got through defeating Marsaille in the quarterfinals and the Spanish giants Real Madrid in the semis. A tough battle is to be expected as none of the teams can be underestimated.

So, are you ready for the cracker with drinks and snacks on Saturday for the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL?
