Madrid-Barca Dominance Continues

Yet another La Liga title for Real Madrid takes the tally to 32 titles for them, 11 ahead of competitor Barcelona. The series of dominance continued from the 1950s and is continuing till now. There has been record over records for these two clubs over the past few years.

Real Madrid were awarded the La Liga title on 2nd May, Wednesday, when they beat Athletico Bilbao 3-0.  Ronaldo continued his goal scoring form with yet another goal which makes it 44 goals in La Liga for him this season. However, Messi’s hat-trick against Malaga took him two ahead of Ronaldo, with two games to go.

This has been a record breaking season for Real Madrid. Three goals at Athletico took their goal scored to 115 this season, conceding just 30. They had three players, Ronaldo, Higuain and Benzema, crossing the 20 goals mark this season, which is a magnificent record in itself. Mesut Ozil is in top of the assists table with 16 assists. It was Jose Mourinho’s team who finally broke the 3 years dominance of Barcelona and made Pep Guardiola quit his job.

Ronaldo’s 58 goals in all competition this season, makes his career best stat in a season. He has a goal ratio of 1.113 in the seasons he has played, which in one of the best all time records. He also grabbed the fastest hat-trick of the season.

The Primera División is currently second in the UEFA rankings of European leagues based on their performances in European competitions over a five-year period, behind the English Premier League in first and ahead of Germany's Bundesliga in third.

With just two loses in the league, Madrid dominated this season from the first and Jose Mourinho probably staying next season, it could be Madrid again making streaks of the league titles.
