While Ukraine and Poland continue preparing actively due to host at the high level the UEFA European Football Championship, we offer you a set of interesting facts about EURO 2012:
• 2012 UEFA European Football Championship will be the 14th in the history.
• For the first time in the history the European Football Tournament will be held in the Eastern Europe.
• EURO 2012 will be the last with 16 teams in the final part. Beginning from the EURO 2012 there will be 24 finalists.
• The estimated value of the Cup made with pure silver that will get the winner is € 20.000. Its height – 60 cm, weight – 8 kg.
• One month before the EURO in Ukraine and Poland, the UEFA will lease 8 stadiums that will hold the matches. Therefore, the Union of European Football Organizations will pay the arena’s owners the rent during 2.5 months.
• The biggest of the host-stadiums in Ukraine will be National Sports Complex “Olympic” in Kyiv. It will have capacity about 70.000 spectators. The smallest arena is in Lviv and it can seat some 34 thousand fans.
• Among Poland’s stadium the biggest is the National Stadium in Warsaw that will seat some 55 thousand fans. The smallest arena of EURO 2012 is situated in Wroclaw and has capacity of 42 thousand spectators.
• The height of “Donbass-arena” that has received the nickname “Sports pearl of EURO 2012” is 54 meters.
• For the “Hat-trick” program that foresee the sports projects development in all 53 associations-members of UEFA will be granted almost half of billion Euros during 2012-2016.
• More than 1.5 million of fans will be able to see the EURO 2012 matches straight at the stadiums. Also more than 150 million fans will watch the live broadcast of every match.
• Almost 6 thousand volunteers will help to host the EURO 2012 in Ukraine and Poland.
• Ukraine is going to offer its own “respond for vuvuzela” – Trypillian penny whistle zozulitsa. The authors emphasized that zozulitsa has deep pleasing sound and will not irritate like vuvuzela did.
• During filming a promo-video “Switch on Ukraine!” in the context of Ukraine’s preparation for EURO 2012, the runway of the Boryspil International Airport was blocked due to shoot the plane landing. In order to film the step-by-step turning on the light of the business complex “Parys” in Kyiv, all the electricity in the city was switch off due to make the flashes in the windows more spectacular.
